Silent Routes was developed to address one of the most overlooked yet heavily exploited methods of criminal transportation: commercial bus travel. Criminal organizations routinely move narcotics, currency, weapons, and fugitives through bus systems, relying on the assumption that law enforcement lacks the training and strategy to operate effectively in this environment.
This course provides officers and investigators with a structured, intelligence-driven approach to commercial bus interdiction. Students will learn how to identify high-risk routes, target specific buses, and recognize the travel patterns commonly used by traffickers. The focus is not random contacts, but purposeful interdiction based on behavior, movement patterns, and known criminal trends.
Through real-world case studies and practical application, students will learn how to lawfully conduct traffic stops involving commercial buses, develop effective consensual encounters, and recognize behavioral indicators of deception and criminal activity. Emphasis is placed on constitutional policing, clear articulation, and identifying passengers engaged in criminal behavior while safeguarding the rights of lawful travelers. Officers will leave with practical techniques they can immediately apply in the field while ensuring every encounter withstands legal scrutiny.
The goal of Silent Routes is not simply to make seizures, but to generate intelligence, disrupt trafficking networks, and turn routine interdiction into long-term investigations. This course prepares officers to think strategically, operate confidently, and close a major gap in proactive policing.
While this is an interdiction course and additional topics will be discussed, the primary focus remains commercial bus interdiction. The only problem you should leave this class with is figuring out where to put the extra evidence!
